If your coil to cap wire is sparking but the plug wires aren't, the distributor itself must be working as it is what sends the signal to the coil to spark. My guess is the center contact in the cap is broken or missing. There is a spring-loaded carbon contact that is very brittle and can get broken or fall out. Try another distributor cap and see what happens.

you mean your getting spark from the coil? but not too the plug wires? Make sure they are all in the correct place. Check distributor cap. Could have the wrong one or a bad one out of the box. Take cap off spin engine over and see if rotor button is turning. If not....... then you will need to replace the distributor as the gears are prob stripped or broke.

The cap has the center electrode in there its spring loaded and seems to make contact with the rotor and the rotor is spinning. This is crazy i dont know what it could be everything is in timing and im getting spark from ignitor to distributor and the cap is sending spark to rotor and rotor is spinning i dont get it? is the cap not coming in contact with the rotor good enough?

Is the pick-up coil in the distributor connected? Theres a connector coming from the distributor and that connector goes to the ignitor i beileve. Make sure its got a good connection. Take the connector(s) out and clean it with some electronic cleaner spray. Make sure the coil and ignitor grounds are clean and secure. Cean battery terminals.

Is it not sparking on "one" plug wire you checked or have you checked them all? check that wire that flows arcoss from the ignitor and heads to the "mid engine area" and make sure its not broke or crushed.

The distributor could very well be bad but its hard to tell from here.... What was going on before this situation happened? What made you have to work on the truck in the first place? Prior work?

I did the timing belt and was off a tooth and it would misfire really bad so i redid the timing belt and put everything lined up to tdc then went to start it and i had no spark from the wires to plugs so i got a cap and rotor thinking that was the problem and no. could the plugs be bad?

Did you get this problem fixed, and if so, how? I am having the same problem after a head job.
