$100 in a trailgear winch plate and $100 in prebent/notched tubing from a guy on pirate. I welded it myself and welded in some sheet metal fillers to hide the body.

Looks like I'll be picking this up for the cost of salvage/storage. Time to start reading up.

Might not be happening. Sounds like he might have sold it out from under me. From what I heard he beat on his vehicles anyway so it could be a tired engine. Also from my research going from the 22re to the 3.4 is a lot more parts and work needed than from the 3.0 to 3.4. Dunno might still happen.

damn dude that sucks, but im not really partial to the 3.0 or the 3.4, My runner is running the 3.0 and its at 200k. As soon as the hg gives up or anything on it Im gonna start looking for the 1uzfe. That in my opinion is the ideal motor

I did the trailgear conversion. If I didn't change one of the rear wheel bearings while doing it I probably could have done it in a little over an hour. If your wheel bearings are good you don't even have to pound out or press the bearing off. Just cut the backing plate off around it. I also didn't put in a proportioning valve or residual valve. I have the stock 93 master cylinder as well. Pedal isn't great like car-great but it's better than it ever was with drums. The rears WILL lock up if you really slam on it but this truck is 70/30 trails/roads so I'm not worried about it. It might even help if I pushed the LSPV arm down all the way to cut it down some but I'd rather have full rear brakes if I'm wheeling.

I'm going out Sunday some but I think the furthest I'd make it on trails and stuff would be oswego lake. Haven't been to bass river in a few years. Some really nasty trails back in there.

Yeah I have a few things on CL. An old police cruiser caprice, wheels, a stock 85 axle housing and a built 85 housing that I bent a knuckle on.

I have a sky's transfer case ebrake still sitting in the box. I'm waiting to do my dual transfer cases to install it. Won't fit with the electronic VSS in my current tcase. Going to convert to the cable driven unit and get a marlin adapter and it will fit.

Sweet truck dude.
I did the same SAS kit and everything with mine.
How much did you end up spending for wheels?
I still gotta do my axle perches and what not, but do you experience any 'death wobble?' 35-45mph my wheel shakes pretty bad. This is the third time it's happened. First, thought it was my wheel bearrings not being tightened enough after I did the axle rebuild crap, turns out they were a bit loose. Tightened up, death wobble went away.... for about 3 months. Came back, did the same thing again with the wheel bearrings, went away for about a month or so, got it again... Wheel bearrings are good, pretty sure the rims aren't bent. I guess it could be the stabilizer shock is bad but, I did the SAS back in April of '11, kinda shocking if it's bad ALREADY!
Another thing, with my front end, it's the '83, (doesn't look near as nice as yours. I still need to put my upper truss on and my pumpkin armor. Possibly paint it someday too lol.) but when I wheel, in 4-HI or 4-LO, just whenever the front is locked it, i can hear something binding. Like, clunk clunk clunk..... Only when the front is locked in. Also, when I turn, when it's locked in, my wheels kind of chirp, like something is binding?! Idk what the hell the deal is... I was thinking of getting that rebuild kit for the front end and go over everything again. Upgrade my axle shafts and what not too, thinking those might be done for and causing me the death wobble. could also be a bent axle housing. If that's the case, Rock Assault axle is what I'm going for. Pain in the wallet, causing the pain in my a$$. lol

Check the pics on my profile or whatever, i hate trying to figure out how to upload pics on this thing. I can never figure it out, then once I do, i forget how i did it next time I want to upload pics. lol
