Trailgear warranty replaced the arm, should be here Monday. Rock Assault housing should also be here Monday.
Anyone who says a 110 gas welder doesn't get enough penetration for a front spring hanger has never had to cut one off. With a gas cut off saw, angle grinder, and countless cutting wheels it still took me a better part of the day to get the front hanger off. Ended up ripping off a couple inches of the front of the frame too in the process. That thing wasn't going anywhere.
Anyway, tacked on where it should have been all along. 1" forward of the crossmember.

Put some weight on the spring and the shackle angle looks good for once.
Got the steering box unbolted and the steering shaft out and called it a day. It's too hot out for this crap.

I didn't realize only the older trucks had the steering column you could drill the pins out of and have a slip shaft. Guess I'll have to sleeve and extend mine.

Some fun stuff showed up today.

These steering stops look way smaller than the stock housing stops. Unless I'm just holding them in the wrong spot...
I'll mess with them after it's under the truck.

finally got some work done. finally a shackle angle I'm happy with.
steering box forward a little over 2" with a 3/4 drop sky pitman arm, front hanger forward 1", redrilled ubolt plate 1" forward, extended steering shaft 2".

Would have finished today but I mangled my last inner axle seal set trying to get them in the new housing. They seem to fit tighter in there and I trashed some cheapo seals in no time. Time for some marlins.

Dude...I haven't checked in on this thread in literally over a year!
This is what Toyota's are all about - no matter what gets thrown at it it comes back, bigger and better than ever.
Subscribed now, just so I don't miss anything else!

Like he said it's an old smittybuilt with plates, d-rings, and other reinforcing welded on that you can't see. Thinking about cutting off the bottom tubes that stick out so it's kinda like

Dunno, I'm not really a fan of it.
I'm still trying to decide what to do about a front winch mount and bumper. Kinda like the trailgear one.
The fog lights are a couple of hellas that a local steel supply place sells the pair of for $25. You can have mine if you buy the front bumper as well. Only $475 lol.
Yeah it's a 1990 9c1 with a 350.

Sooner or later I'm pulling the TBI 350 out and building a carb'd 350 to wake it up.
My daily is a 1985 Celica I just finished restoring about a month ago.

my dads a cop car restorer drive for 1k miles and resell guy, so when i was growin up, we'd have have 5+ cop cars in our yard at once, i remember id always stay up late on weekends and watch my pops work on his cop cars all night. out of all the cop cars ive ridden in while growing up my dads 89 9c1 was by far my favorite, for a retirement gift my borother and sister and mom and i are gonna buy my dad either an 89 or 90 caprice so he has something to play with again. his current project now is my moms 99 P73 crownvic we are "converting" to a p71.
so what engine is in the celica? i bet those qq's save alot of money too eh?
if you ever lose interest in the caprice drop me a line, im willing to pay top dollar in a heartbeat, shes gorgous. if im not mistaken the engine in there is the 'detuned' ls1 right?
