had to take out distributor reclock it with number 1 cylinder was off 36 degrees pinging is gone

 

my question would be how did it get to be off 36 degrees and still run?

reminds me of when I got my first car. I knew nothing about cars, but somebody suggested I get cool new red spark plug wires. So I pulled off all the old wires(thats right, pulled them all off), then put the new ones back on. Took it for a spin, was running real rough, then trying to go back up the hill on hte way home it started bogging real bad then pulled an "Uncle Buck". Kaboom, heard some metal piece fly out the tailpipe, was hilarious. Luckily my brother helped me get the wires on the right way.

 

When u install the dizzy, if you don't clock it 35* off, it'll be 35* off. When you install it, the rotor turns..
