no gauge lights
Title says it all. My gauge lights do not work. The fuse is good. Clock even dims when i turn on the headlights like it is supposed to, but still no gauge lights. I pulled the bulb behind the air controls and it is good. The high beams, no seatbelt, etc all those little lights under the gauges still work. Just the the little bulbs that are wrapped in the little green sleeve won't come on. Power is still gettin to the socket (according to one of those circuit testers) so i am thinking maybe it is a bad ground? Or could it be a bad dimmer switch? Is there anyway to by pass this dimmer switch(i wouldnt mind them being bright all the time just as long as they work)? Basically im out of ideas and hoping yotatech can come thru on some ideas. thanks in advance.

there are two wires that go to this switch two powers and one ground (i think) but due to my lack of knowledge i dont know how. should i just join the two positives?

You need to basically ground the switch. I had this same issue in one of my trucks. All I did was take a wire and push it into the connector and ground it to metal and it worked till i got a new dimmer.

k let me get this right. The ground is bad to the switch. so i take a wire ground it to a good bolt and then push it into the bad ground connected to the switch?

well ive started messing around with these stupid lights again. here is what i know for sure.
there are three wires going to the switch. two and positve and one is negative. when put up to a circuit tester it shows that two are hot and one is grounded.
all bulbs are good.
when i put the circuit tester into the socket(after removing a light bulb) all i get is it sayin the socket is positve. is this correct? shouldnt somewhere in there when i move the circuit tester around i get a negative contact?
i dont think the switch is bad because i still have power to the light sockets.
also, fuses are good.
