Newb help with a 89' Runner

I have been reading alot, trying to learn the in and outs of Toyota 4 runners. My last rig was a full size 85' Blazer.

I picked up a high mileage 89, 3. slow, it looks good. The previous owner had tones of records of things fixed. VIN shows no open head gasket campain. TRuck is bone stock.

I pulled 1 can of Sea foam through brake booster, 1/3 cup at a time, let sit 10-30 minutes, to clean intake. I also ran 1 can in a full take of fuel. That was 2 days ago. Today when I got on the gas hard, it sputtered. When I stopped it was sputtering, a little black smoke, would bog when you got on fuel hard to raise RPM's, a check engine light came on for a little while. I turned if off and on, tried to keep rpm's up.

Seemed as though it was running really rich. Then it suddenely went away, all is good. Been 65 miles with zero problems. So, I changed the fuel filter to be safe, filter fuel looked brownish, varnished a little. Did Sea foam break alot of stuff up, maybe injector has trash in it and could not close? Trying to find why it might have done this. Anyone else had a similar experience?

I am gonna pull the plugs in the morning, to check them.

Thanks for your help.

Maybe this "Sea Foam" broke up alot of congestion and the engine sputtered choked while it burned all this stuff off? Thats all I could think.

The truck has not done it since. Maybe the seafoam broke up crud. I had the battery/brake light flickering also, new batt. check, new alt, check, grounds good, check. Plug in back of alt. was loose.

Now to fix the sag.
