The lenses are different.

The driving lights are pretty clear, the fog lights have more of a diamond cut to them.

But the driving lights are a long thin beam, fogs are a shorter wide beam.

Use both! Best of both worlds

Hehe, I used to be anal like that.. Till I took the truck off road, scratched my paint to crap and got everything full of dirt

But I do clean it somtimes... but it gets dirty quick so I have kinda lost interest in it heheheh

Anyways, hopfally tomorrow on my way home from a family dinner I will stop off at another hardware store (far away from my place) and get some metal.

Then on saterday after work I can spend the day making my switch panel, wiring up the bumper lights. And if I can get sombody to help me with the roll bar I can wire those up to ( I have to pull the roll bar out to drill a hole for the wires to feed though the bed)

As for the reverse facing lights...Already taken care of

On another note, I went to look at the 4.88 gears, was about 30 mins on the road and off and on I could smell the ABS plastic. Im hoping its not burning.
There was a few tiny shards that where from the drilling I think I sucked them into the intake and thats why it smelled...
Any thoughts?
It was probably just the little plastic bits and the glue curing from the heat off the manifold but...
that manifold puts out a lot of heat you might try wrapping the pipe with some of that silver reflective bubble insulation wrap, it's cheap and will also reduce the intake air temp a bit [maybe], it may end up looking like hell but it will work...
in any case I'd keep an eye on that pipe where it passes over the manifold...

I sure will, I will keep checking it. I made the same drive to pick up my 4.88's this morning from the 92 runner and I only noticed a LITTLE smell at the beginning

That front diff is one heavy bastard! I almost dropped it when I took it out of the bed. Had to put it on my jack to move it around.

I couldnt get the drain plug out and I couldnt get the stupid front cover off, the ADD actuator is blocking access to one bolt, and I cant find my 14 open wrench. How do you take the actuator off?

Oh and I think im gonna take the lights off intill I wire them up. I will be going to work and I have to park my truck in the middle of vancouver on friday night, I dont want my lights to go "missing" Friend suggested to get sombody to throw a tac weld onto the nut to prevent anybody taking them.

Driving Lights

[quote=Jay351;50649401]Finally after a month the camel showed up with my parts strapped to his back But seriously I got a big box of parts.

Included in the parts where my sets of Hella 500 lights

2 driving lights and 2 fog lights, verrrrrr nice!

They are not hooked up yet, I have ran out of space in my dash for switches, so im going to pick up some metal and im gonna make a nice insert that will go into the space under my cd player. It will have enough room for all the switches I plan on running.

Well enough talk, pictures!!!

Fogs are on the pre-runner bar, driving lights are on the roll bar

Nice , too bad you couldn't request the other German Made , the German's are probably stock from the old production plant before they went to cheap labor
I guess if I get some I will order from German Retailer hehehe.

Thanks man!

Note how the valance I got from you is no longer installed.. My BFG's decided they didn't like it anymore and promptly tore it off up in the mountains

Will do!

Im not really sure what brand it is, I got it off the local buy & sell for 25 bucks. The lower bolts don't line up right though, they are right in front of the bumper brackets so I need to do some custom bracketry to make them work, they are kinda booty fabbed in there right now.

So I won't be wiring them up this week, I was gonna do it today but I can't find any sheet metal for my custom switch panel
I will have to pull my roll bar out to drill a hole for the wires to run though the box, so I need a friend to help me with that.
And the most important thing, im picking up my 4.88 gears from a 94 runner today 350 bucks and I just have to pick them up.

But I did however do the ISR mod this morning.
I don't notice much sound from it, might be the routing OR my exhaust is covering up the noise. I noticed a little better throttle response, nothing too exciting..

here are some pics. Oh and don't mind the stock clamps around the ends, I didnt have any band clamps small enough, but I picked some up and threw them on a few hours later.

Is that 4" PVC on your ISR Mod and where did you get those adapt's for the ends or what application were they originally intended for ???

specs for my ISR mod are:

3.5" ABS piping
45 degree 3.5" ABS bend

(2)- 2.75-3.5" silicone adapters from a turbo shop.

(2) brass fittings (cant remember off hand what size they where.)

(2) 5" band clamp (shouldve gotten a 4") (for abs/silicone seal)
(2) 3.5" band clamp (for throttle body/ airbox to silicone seals)
(2) 1.5" band clamps for fittings
Clear silicone sealant for ABS seals.

Anyways, after much BS looky

Next thing is to pull the roll bar (need sombodys help), drill a wire hole, prep my bed (im seeing some rust!) then wire up the driving lights

oh and I have to remake my custom switch panel after I ruined it trying to get my dash back together before it got darker.

Oh and I thought I would show you my switch panel, you can see how I mangled it up, and grabbed it before the paint was dry

They switches are positioned low like that because my Alpine deck angles out when its on.

oh and the other hole was for my roll bar switch, but it broke when I was putting the dash back together.

but it gives you an idea what I was going for...

Got some parts from trail-gear

Greasable bolts and polly bushings

But I think there is a problem, if you see the top bolts, you can see the bushings will be riding on the threads! I emailed trail-gear about it...

Stupid UPS charged me 38 bucks when they delivered it

how can that be illegal, i lived in BC with clear covers, and tires sticking out, i guess it is when the stick out 1" so when they pull you over for it, they HAVE to measure it when the pull you over, so you can argue that with someone. and that sounds like BS that it is illegal to have no covers!

I have talked to cops.

Any amount of tire thats not covered it illigal. The trick they use is: If you can roll a quarter off your fender and have it not touch your tire, you're good.

As for the covers, you need "opaque" covers for it to be legal, in other terms it cant be a clear cover.

BUT both of these laws are VERY loosly inforced, I see guys "breaking" the law everyday. But I dont want to risk it. Altho I have been driving without covers on my lights since I use them at night now.

Some stupid teenagers stopped crosing the road halfway though, so I blinded them

Yeah that "no-uncovered tire" thing is supposedly for protection from stones and stuff being thrown off the wheel and hitting pedestrians and such I'm told...
The light thing is partly because those lights are "for off-road use only" etc. but if you have your DRLs disabled and have the other lights properly aimed and so forth you can argue that they are your DRLs.
Enforcement of either of those rules usually depends on what kind of day the officer is having I find...

the tire thing depends on the state, and usually cops wont pull you over for equipment violations unless they're having a bad day and feel like being an , or you're driving like an .

Different states have different laws regarding the lights too.

equipment tickets tend to be fairly cheap and dont effect insurance.

ps. in a lot of states you're required to have a stock exhaust, or you can get an equipment ticket for that too.
