new radiator??

Got a crack in my rad and decided to order a new one from radiatorbarn.. Well I ordered the 3 core $160 one from them last night and got a call this morning saying its on a national backorder and it could be weeks to months before they get another one in.. So, my question is, im looking for a 3 core all metal rad thats an exact OE fit thats also around the same price as the radiatorbarn one or less, does anyone have any suggestions?? Theres a rad listed on the autozone website thats a three core all metal rad thats made by spectra, does anyone have any info or opinions on that one? This is my dd so the quicker i can get my hands on it the better..

www.autohausaz.com has CSF radiators for about $150. I think they are the 3-row all-metal.

Just FYI, I replaced mine with a single-row aluminum one from NAPA (~$100) and it seems to work fine. There is some debate that less rows may transfer heat as well or better than more rows, and aluminum is more thermally conductive than brass. Something to think about is all...

well I just called them back and asked them whether their two row was also on backorder, its not, just the three row, so i think im just gonna go ahead and order that, saves me a bunch of money i can use on coolant.. And I have heard that argument before on the cores, so maybe a two core will be a nice in between, thats what the truck came with stock in the first place.. so now my second question is, how much fluid does the cooling system hold and how many gallons of toyo red should i need? and does it HAVE to be toyo red or can i safely get away with something else thats similar?

The only thing similar to Toyota Red is Subaru Long Life - but there's no benefit to the Subaru product over the Toyo.

This post has info on capacities (with stock radiator), as well as some pros and cons of the different coolant types: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...nt-faq-192781/

I've read nothing but good things about the aluminum rads, so when mine needs replacing I'll probably go with one of them.

I have a spectra 3 row from autozone in my 22re and it's very solid. I believe the Spectra is what JC Whitney sells as well.

It fits perfect and is a quality radiator in my opinion. I think I paid about $140 for it

Just FYI.I had a three row all steel from Kragen. It ran at above half way on the temp gauge. That went out so the replacement was a two row aluminum from o'rielly(kragen). Now runs just below half.

well the spectra one at autozone is $135, plus the wonderful 8.75% california sales tax for my county, would come out to about $147 and the radiatorbarn one is $126 with free shipping and a lifetime warranty, same warranty as id get at autozone though, but saved twenty bucks, little less than half a tank of gas worth, but alot when youre only bringin in a grand a month.. and thanks for that thread, thats exactly what i needed.. though a trip to the dealer warranted no more toyota red, so i guess that solves that, ill prolly just use prestone or subaru..
