New (to me) 89 4runner

Just picked up this 4runner today, 1989 v6 5spd 4wd, auto locking hubs (sigh). 184k, got it pretty cheap, rusty underneath with the word being front of frame, as seen in pictures, 2 broken brake lines, the line that coil's from passenger front and goes to master cylinder, attachs to firewall I beleive, looks pretty tough to get to, should (can) I order a prebent line from Toyota? Or just make my own. Interior is in mint condition. Top had never been off, any tips on taking off for first time in this 4runners life? Gonna get the frame cleaned up and coated and fix the brake lines and give my 93 pickup a break. Any feedback is appreciated!

The line to the left that I have disconnected

My baby, 124xxx miles

WOW It is very unlikely that your Runner could pass even the most rudimentary safety inspection.

Good luck with it. Hope it doesn't hurt anybody. It's gonna take a lil more than some undercoating to make it safe. Like another frame maybe.

Looks like the lower 'A' frame lugs are about rusted off. You'll likely have to attempt any frame repairs yourself.

No shop I know would accept the liability for any repairs on such a rotten mess.

I could have recently bought a perfect rust-free 'runner frame for $150, but it is gone now and a long way from you.

looks like you got some good interior parts and a top.
I lived in upstate NY so I know what the salt does but that thing looks like it was parked underwater for a few years.

when you say you got it cheap I take it you mean single digits$
sorry but that thing needs to be parted out IMO

Strange that the frame rotted away in the front. I live in a heavily road salted area and it is usually the rear that goes. You need a frame there is no way around it. I have been painting mine every fall and washing it religiously all winter but rust is starting to appear in some areas. I am considering buying a cheap paint gun and spraying everything inside and out with my used motor oil. I hear that works pretty well up there for the Canadian boys.

That occurs because the front valance has been removed due to the bull bar
(I had a similar issue - but had kept a closer eye on it - so its no where near as bad)

I have a FRONT CLIP of a frame - all the way past the A arm mounts

I have no idea about welding it tot he back part of the frame

FREE if you want it - its located in central NJ near Princeton

On the other hand - if yer parting that - there's loads of the interior I'd want

actually I took the front valence off, from my understanding it was on there the entire life of the truck
