New engine

Alright i got a 88 4runner, body is almost finally done. My next step is the motor, I'm looking to put something crazy in it, 305, 350, diesel, 3.4 yota, I have no idea what to put in it, Just looking for some advice and any experiences anyone has had with putting different motors in. Should i stay with a 22-re ( came stock in it ), any advice would be appreciated.

I hear you have to drop the firewall back 5" for them, true? And what about running gear, switch to dana, or leave yota?

350's are popular. There are also other alternatives like the 5.0 from the Trans-Am's of which some came with TPI, bolts in like a 350, so just a little less torque available to break things.

That's just my opinion though.

get creative and widen the frame and move the firewall back to make room for a 454. haha. I want to put a buick 3.8 in my truck because you can get an easy 400 horsepower out of them with a turbo and its the same engine as a buick grannational so turbos are an easy thing. haha.

Check this out...

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2637442 I had to stop the link from reloading by hitting the red X.

I have a LT1 coming to me when my mom is done with it. In a 94 Roadmaster right now. Dad's truck, Mom's eng. seems to be a great combo. If you can get a car with everything in it should be a easy deal. Mom gets 26 MPG in that big car with 260HP. If you get the Trans Am. Z28 heads you are at 300HP. That is with the overdrive trans (same car 4L60E) that is a lot like the old TH350 with a 4th gear. The computer from the donor car controls eng, trans, and can be programed to however you like. Did I say how stout that trans is??? I see these cars for sale for cheap on Craig's list.

Dang forgot about those 4x4s ya'll are running, trans may be a pain.....
