New CV's VS Reman'd

I am doing the cvs and the brand new cv's from napa are only 10 dollars more than the remanufactured ones, plus I don't have to put down the $150 for the core charge. What's the deal here? Isn't this a no-brainer?

Anyone have any terrible stories about napas new cv shafts? Just kinda leary about replacing original parts w napa

thanx for any replies

I have had both from Autozone, and I think the remanned ones are actually better. The new ones are completely new, whereas the remanned ones are usually Toyota parts with new grease and boots.

As for the cost - you pay the core charge, then get it refunded. $150 is a pretty extreme core charge for a CV...

I think around here, the toyota dealerships actually get their parts (or at least some of them) _from_ napa.

I have 1.5" BJ spacers and slightly cranked TB's so my cv angle is a bit much but I have gone through 2 advanced/craiger cv's on the left side in a year. First one was a reman one and the boot ripped open in a couple months. I replaced it with a new one and that just started grinding/binding a couple weeks ago. The original toyota cv is still on the right side and I've yet to have an issue with it. I'm going with a used toyota one this time around, I'm done with the new/reman and going back to oem.

I have 4crawler's 1" drop and manual hubs. I've yet to have an issue with the original toyota cv on the right. I blame the new manufacture cv for just not being up to quality.

I didn't use their mounting plate because you don't need it with the warn bumper. I really can't complain about the winch, it was $200 so I never really did expect much out of it. It's slowwww... If you take care of it you shouldn't have any issues. I had mine about 6 months and pulled out about 2 dozen trucks before I melted the motor. I was winching someone out of a clay hole with it snatch blocked. I ended up getting the motor so hot the magnets melted the epoxy holding them in place and shifting and jamming into each other, seizing the winch up. This was my fault, I ran it way too much at once. My buddy bought 3 of these winches at once and when he called Champion they shipped us out 3 new motors for free which apparently are better made now. Mine has the new motor in now and is back on the truck. Haven't used it yet but my buddy has used his several times with his new motor (his did the same thing as mine). Also champion promised us brand new complete winches when the Sams club we bought them at has them in stock again. So while you get what you pay for, I really didn't expect that sort of support from the company. I expected a winch that would get me out of a jam a few times then I'd throw it away eventually, so I'm happy.
Btw I'd recommend taking your motor off the winch and separating the end with the brushes and RTV'ing it back together and to the winch. If it's like mine there was nothing sealing out water before doing that.

Ok done hijack
