New Cup Holder Idea.

Just had my lid done, too. Torrance Upholstery(a good guy who does Airplanes, Boats, trucks, ...whatever, lol) did it for cheap with Leather he had laying around. He did hard forming-fill the cracks foam on the frame, then 2.5" softer foam on top of that, so NOW, i can actually rest my elbow on this thing, lol.

OH, and notice the 99c store holder in my glove box.... WORKS GREAT, and also can go over my console under the lid and hang on the pass. side and not even be in the way of the passenger. I also have one of those "click" tighter or looser ones like in an above pic....but it seemed to get in the way on occasions, so for now, this'll work. lol.
LOVE having a nice pad for the armrest, btw... well worth it!
PS> COOL, Heli!

Ha yep. Did it myself.. Still have some of the material if you want it. $5 shipped! Its pretty easy if you just copy the shape of the 3 pieces of leather, then sew together. I used a piece of 4" think foam and trimmed it a little bit. STUFFED it in tight and its pretty firm; worked out well.

Thought I'd share this with the group. I've always wanted cup holders in the 'runner, it's the one thing that's bugged me about the 1st gens. It bugs my wife too, and since she'll be the one driving it 2300 miles I thought I'd remedy that before we left. Materials needed for the cup holder: 4" length of 3" diameter drain pipe, a 3" drain pipe coupler, a 3" drain pipe end cap and 2 carriage bolts to attach it. For the mount I just bent up some 1.25" wide flat stock that I had laying around and bolted it to the seat track
the cup holder itself it pretty simple - slide the end cap and coupler over the piece of drain pipe and add glue. I ended up adding a rib to the metal arm to stiffen it up and reduce vibration while driving

in 4th gear - it only gets in the way going into reverse (very minor) and I can still get to the rear window switch underneath it

Since these aren't the stock seats this might not work for everyone, but it would be simple enough to run one leg to the inboard seat mount bolt and run a second elsewhere to give it stability.

WOOT! Bobby FTW! Everyone loves Duct Tape... especially prepared road side emergency Yotatech Mechanics! lol. I have a 99C store one that is supposed to hang on the window seal on the door....mine is too tight, they don't fit, so I put mine over my console upper box, then closed the lid, and it stays put in the passenger side of the thing! lol. Even there, people can still sit there and buckle up! I love 99c store mods! lol.

I'm new to forums. I made one post with it's own pictures, then went to all the ones that were asking for cupholder ideas and posted the pic as well. Too much? Next time I'll just make a new post and ignore the rest.

Thanks! I've been checking it for a while, compiling a list of things to do for my 4runner. I figured since I thought of something I didnt see before, that I would share. Didn't think about it as bumping the old threads, won't do that anymore, sorry. Like I said, new at this.

well since this threads been resurrected
i just recently found a cup holder in a sc400 that i kept and plan on using it one day .. well am gonna try and use it not sure if it will fit yet.
heres some pics .

and obviously this may only work for the panels with the arm rest.

I never really minded putting one of those square drink holders that goes on the floor behind the passenger seat in the passenger footwell. From this post, it looks like there are no good places to put a cupholder in a 4runner that aren't either totally ugly or in the way. Or worse, will make you have an accident if you have to shift quickly and get hung up on something.
I do like the duct tape idea--
