Thanks for you reply. I took the truck back to the mechanic and he made it better. I think he adjusted the travel of the clutch pedal, but it’s been almost two years ago so memory is a bit clouded.

That's right. Exactly.There's no "syncromesh" for reverse. If two gear teeth are trying to occupy the same location you have to move one of them. Do it the easy way, so they can mesh.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gear
