Alright, Picking up some nice 17" Tundra/Sequoia wheels with 31" Dunlop All-Seasons (Will probably go a bit bigger down the road) this payday


Also, Buyin' this out of my Brothers '91 Firebird Formula. Chevy 355.



With that motor, I know I'll have to get a lift for clearance (Bigger tires will come after lift.. Maybe 33's), Mounts, Radiator, and Exhaust. What is the best lift? Not looking for anything huge.. just enough for clearing. Also, this is my first build up... so, what exhaust is best?

Now, Being that the truck has 228,000 Miles, I want to replace the Transmission too... and I know the stock toyota trannys probably can't handle that kind of power... Any suggestions on which tranny to get? what would be more reliable, and what is the best one? I was thinking either the chevy turbo 350 automatic, Or the Turbo 400.

As for the tranny, for an auto I would go the way of the 350 if you didnt drive on the road that much, because it lacks an over drive but its plenty strong, if you drive it everyday, I would go with a 700R4 cause its overdrive.

as for lift, You will need a body lift to clear the hood, not sure if you will need a suspension lift. If you dont 33s will fit on stock suspension (33-10.5s)

 

depends on the horsepower that motor will produce...
really, other than it being smaller, the 200r4 would work just as well as the 700r4, and it is probably cheaper...

I looked into the 327 swap before getting my 3.4 set up and if you talk to DOWNEY they will tell you if you stay with reasonable hp from the Chevy you can keep the yota 5 speed with there adapter kit and it will hold up fine as long as you don't beat it.

But if your an automatic kind of guy go for the 700r4 with a reasonable converter

 

Well, Being that the tranny already has 228K miles, I would rather replace it while it's parked. The truck is already an automatic and I don't want to go through converting it to a stick. I think I'll stick with the 700r4. My brother had one in his 87' 4Runner, built by Marlin Crawler and it did great.
