Well, after two weeks of fun times in my shop, my truck has passed the OOP inspection, and is now on the road. here's some pix (baaaaad cam) of all the fun...
De-axled for new bearing, seals, inspection
Ball jointed and shocked
Dead End Link
Original Rims
Prepped
Contract to spare tire
(after my uber cool spare tire winch fix!)
Finished rim, with new lugs, rock gaurded caps
Rock gaurded valence / hubs!
Almost done......
Just a few more things to do
Waxed and on the road, woot1
eeek, contrast!
front ended
vera clean interior
All in all, I did this to the truck
-new shocks
-new rear bearing /seals
-new endlinks
-new balljoint
-new idler arm
-treated, prepped, painted rims
-freebie PIAA fogs, to replace broken ones that were on it
-rock gaurded skid plate, hub caps, valence
-box net, cause the worst rust was the TG
-new windshield
-flushed rad
-adjusted ebrake
-installed alarm
-cleaned cleaned cleaned
-polished the not-so-great-paint
-new light bulbs in every orifice
-new signal lense
-installed new backup switch
-fixed spare tire winch
-topped fluids
-took off crappy chrome wheel well trim
with the inspection, parts, the cost of truck, still under $3000. Woot.

Yeah, not bad for my winter beater.
The next things I need to get are a one piece rear window, non slider, h4 drop in lenses, a rear bumper off some kind of smaller pickup, and wire in my boost pack for my company.

Actually if it's not broken you may appreciate having that opening rear window... sure you can't put a defog in it but honestly I've never missed it. After driving trucks for a few years I hardly use the rear view at all. Being able to open the rear window increase ventilation greatly and it makes it easier to load longer items since you're able to pass them through into the cab. If you're concerned about security just cut a strip of plywood or hardboard and drop it into the lower window track like you do with a sliding door in your house.

No, the slider latch is broke (even thought its cheap), and I want a one piece to run my company logo on, and to tint. Plus I think it looks less farm truck lol.
I cant seem to find a straight answer on if a single cab one piece rear window will fit my ext cab.

I'm 99.9% sure it will there is only one part# from the dealer for either one. But to check for yourself go to www.toyodiy.com and you can check the part# list and factory list $ for almost any part on any toyota vehicle sold anywhere.
just look up NA then your model yr. then Hilux/Pickup then you can search for xtra cabs (XX110) and standard cabs XX96? look under body and go from there. The engine type does'nt matter the bodies are the same regardless of what engine was installed.
The bodies are different between the 2wd and 4wd but not so far as the windows/interiors are concerned.

Truly impressive.... And now I'm jealous. I wish I had money to spend on my ride, unfortunately all it's gotten lately is new taillights cause I didn't want a ticket.... Oh well, this time next year, we'll be seeing pictures and paint!

Dont be too jealous, I did this on a very very small budget, and if it wasnt for having my own hobby shop, wouldve been 3 times the price.
There's a ton of things I would still like to do, but now im tapped! grrrr.
