Let me put it this way, you need sensors, a harness, and an ECU that match. Since you seem to have an ECU and harness that match the sensors on the current motor I'd say go with THAT scenario. It sucks, you'll have to run the portion of the motor harness over to the gauge cluster, but thems the breaks kid.

Too bad this damn truck wasn't carb'd. It would make life much simpler. Lol

Well I've got the dash ripped out. Starting to remove the old harness now.

Red face

Gotta love it!!

Hand them a challenge and they raise the white flag so very soon.

Is this related to time outs in boot camp.

For the record this was not all that difficult That being the case don`t think about a engine swap.

If your close I would think about taking this off your hands

I think part of the problem is that he is unfamiliar with the terminology or the sensors in general. but x2 should still be easy if he can give us the info as requested.

Ive worked on a lot of vehicles, but this thing has got me confused on how they made these 22res for 10 years and put them in the toyota pickup and 4runner and why they changed plugs is just dumb. Everything should just be plug and play since its the same motor and nothing really changed on them since the emission controls didnt get strict until 96 and they quit making them in 95 (that i know of).

With the new harness, I cant even find the plug for the distributer or the ignition coil. And there are a ton of extra plugs on it that I dont even know where they go. I did find a good wiring diagram on the internet that shows what each plug is. I might just leave it sit till it gets warmer outside and then try it again.

But thanks again for your help guys.

And if the price was right I would sell it. I live in Ohio.

Take pics of the plugs you can't identify and we can tell you what they are.

I currently have the cab off mine so I can take lots of pics if you need them and walk you through this process.

BTW where are you locate? There might be some yoters in your neck of the woods that could help you.

Haha Im bringing this back up... Got a quick question for you guys.

Is it possible to find all of the sensors/injectors from an 89 22re and swapping them into the motor to be able to run the old wiring harness/ecu?
