Talking The need for speed

Hi all, i have a 1993 hilux 2.8 liter diesel 4cylinder, and it is very slow, it will do 100kmh but it will take a very long time to get there (a few minutes), and i know that theyre not meant for speed but my truck aslo has very little power, give it a hill and its screwed.

are there any cheap! mods i can do to my engine/intake for a bit more grunt ? no turbo's or exhausts or hundered of dollers, just some tips on lil things to help.
thanks guys

it's a 4cyl low reving diesel in a pickup truck... it's not a twin tubro'ed V8 Pike's Peak hill climber

you can throw thousands of dollars at it and still be short of 150hp...

I'm amazed it hits 100mph to be honest

I haven't personally seen any modified Toyota diesel 4cyl's myself, but I'm sure they're out there

OH, lol, well that's like 60mph that is very possible, lol

are you on stock tires or oversized?

the diesels are a GREAT engine, they're just not a "fast" engine, lol. if a "fast" engine is what you were looking for, then yeah I'd say you have the wrong engine I wouldn't count on any 4cyl (gas or diesel, old or new) to be considered as "fast"

well im not running massive mud tires but they are pretty big, and im not really after speed, after all its a 4wd, i just need an engine that can go up hills without slowing to a crawl or using low range
