so i have a 94 pickup 2wd with a 22re... its is fully built by LC Engineering and DOA Racing, to where its supposed to produce around 400hp to the wheels... the problem is, im looking to swap my rear end for a bigger and better one.. i have no idea what i should go with though.. any help?

What would you think running a 9.5" diff in the rear, like an fj60 rear axle with spring under.

The only problem is its 6 lug where as yours is 5 lug.

 

22re making 400 HP? Sorry, gonna need to see a dyno report on that one.

Easiest to swap in your truck would probably be an 8" out of a 4WD or 1 TON 2WD ... even that would be marginal if you're truly making 400HP, so if you're looking at a custom swap, you could do a Ford 9" or whatever you like.

 

There is no possible way that you are making 400hp with a 22RE, i don`t care who built it or what they did to it, i doubt very much that its even possible. I had a supercharged ford lightning that made 400hp to the rear wheels and dyno charts to prove it, thats why i say its totally impossible to get 400hp from a 22RE even if it had a turbo or supercharger.

I can see 400hp out of a 22re, but it's gonna be so pricey and probably not streetable and built up you could have swapped in a 7m or 2jz for cheaper.

 

I would think with 400 ponies you'd be looking at a decently built Ford 9"
There's tons of aftermarket support for 'em, and they're easy to work on, like a Toy 8"

 

It is hard to get 400 hp out of an re or even rte. I got an rte with a ct 26 turbo, 10 lbs of boost, intercooled, 370 injectors, doa 270 cam, re head w/oversized valves (from engnbldr) and more and i'll be happy if i'm getting 200 or 250 at the wheels with all that.... as for the axle definatly a ford 8.8 out of an 95 to 2000 explorer. it already comes with disk brakes and can be picked up for well under 500 at most scrap yards, at least where I live. 9" rears are way overrated I think. I have a friend at my work running an 8.8 in his mustang that pushes over 800 hp at the wheels on a bad day. (and I'm NOT a mustang or Ford fan)

 

Oh and one more thing. I don't know if Currie products are junk or what but another friend was running 9 inch front and rear on his heep and was always breaking them. 39.5 X 11's have a way of doing that. He switched the Currie 9" out with a wull width 8.8 out of a f150 and is having alot less problems with that. stick with the 8.8 Explorer cause it has the same lug patern (5x4.5"), is alot cheaper and can easily handlle 400 hp in a small truck with small tires.

 

400Hp out of 2 valves per cylinder, don't think so. I say a stock 8inch Toyota will take whatever a 22r will put out.

 

400HP is possible. I'm curious what the torque curve looks like.

The Toyota 8" will take all those 400 "22RE horsepower's" just fine.

 

ok i was asking for help, not for people to call me a liar... it is fully built by D.O.A Racing.. It has their long block.. EVERYTHING forged.. LC's Turbo Kit, running 16 psi, Mishimoto front mount intercooler stage 3 fuel system, and an MSD Ignition... i ended up going with a toyota 8 inch... seems to be holding up fine for now...

Toyota 8" should work for a while I think, you don't have a particularly heavy truck.

The reason we're skeptical is there are a lot of people who claim their making big horsepower with a K&N filter and 3" exhaust and that simply isn't the case. I don't think anyone on this forum even has a 200hp 22RE (naturally aspirated), so when you say you're making twice that, we're going to be a wee bit skeptical until we see concrete numbers. Also, if you're making 400 at the wheels, then you're making 500fwhp I would think and that number is pretty hard to comprehend (without a dyno) seeing as its coming from an 8 valve 2.4L engine.

I'm not calling you a liar, I'm say show us some proof or we're going to be skeptical.

 

Search on here to get a general feel for people's ..... ummm .... HATRED .... for DOA based on bad experiences.

Put it on a dyno and prove us all wrong!

 

Show us a dyno sheet and then we will all believe it, until then i still say no way its possible.
