Need serious help. 1994 Toyota Truck will not start
Vehicle: 1994 Toyota 4x4 truck. 22RE engine (replaced two months ago, only 3000 miles on it). New, cap, new rotor button, new wires, new plugs
Problem: I was driving and everything was fine, then the engine stuttered, shut off, then ran again for a few seconds, then died completely (this all happened in about 15 seconds)
Current state: engine will crank but will not start.
What I have done:
1. Verified that I had gas, 1/4 tank, added more just in case.
2. Thorough visual inspection. Found a Yellow/Blu wire from the MAF that was a little melted (heat from engine?) that may have been grounding to the engine block.
3. Pulled plug 1 and verified spark. (Also verified fuel presence by igniting a small cloud of gasoline vapor that was in close proximity to the open plug)
4. Returned to the truck after putting out a small hair fire.
5. Turned vehicle on and listened for the fuel pump. Fuel pump working.
6. Verified all fuses were good.
7. Verified that the main EFI relay was good.
8. Checked the primary and secondary resistances on the coil. Well within specs.
9. Pulled ECM and looked at the components inside. Nothing appeared to have leaked any magic smoke.
10. Charged battery (it needed it after multiple serenades of "ain't gonna crank, ain't gonna crank"
11. Drank a beer.
12. Got pissed off and made a new aerodynamic dimple in the bed of the truck.
13. Drank another beer and contemplated how much C4 it would take to launch a 1994 truck from Tennessee to the Atlantic coast.
14. Decided that would be a waste of good C4 and came in to ask you guys for help.
I have not checked the timing yet. I find it unlikely being a new engine that it has lost time being that is has worked for 3000 miles. But then again, you need air, fuel, spark, and all at the right time. I seem to have air, fuel, and spark.

Have you fixed the yellow blue wire ??
Just because the fuel pump is running and you had gas vapor in the cylinder does not mean you have the pressure .
When you did the engine new fuel filter???
Is the rotor spinning as you crank the engine??
If the timing chain went south it most often makes enough noise you know.
I have never seen a 22rec engine with a MAF sensor was that your own upgrade??
It all comes down to the blue Yellow wire
