1988 rebuilt stock 3.0. The cat had been removed before I bought it now I want to replace the muffler. What do ya'll think would be the best. Also last week had a tread running about a code 51 I think the problem is with the tps. I pulled the throttle body last night to clean it and ru some test on the tps. Thanks

 

do some searching, theres multiple posts on here about this along with some sound clips. but if it were me i would run something mild like a flowmaster 50 series, or a cheap turbo muffler.

 

I have a stainless 50 series on my truck with a turn down and it sounds awesome.. If i remember i'll post a vid for you on here.. Its deep and mild.. I love it

Check out http://www.apexhaust.com/products.asp. Look up the Xlerator Performance All-welded mufflers, specifically the VX series. I have a VX2443 on mine and it sounds good. Sounds like a Cessna 172 taxiing down the runway during acceleration but just a quiet drone while cruising. 2 1/4" from manifold to tailpipe. My local shop put the system on, bending custom exhaust & tailpipes, VX muffler, hangers and installation for $135.
