Need help. Speedo

I'm in the middle of a transmission swap in my 1987 4Runner (Auto to 5speed).. I picked up a w56 tranny and tcase from a buddy (knowing its history made it a good deal for me).. Anyways, the transmission is electronic speedo, my truck is mechanical speedo. Do not want to alter my cluster. Can I just replace the electronic sending unit for a mechanical one? Does anyone know where i can get one? Please point me in the right direction this is the only thing holding me back at the moment.

It has been a long time ago but seems like I tried to that with out much luck on it. I was new to Toyotas and might have missed do something to make it work. Looking forward to your results.

Since it is an electronic driven speedo, it came out of a 92 or newer truck.

Terry will let you know how it works out! I'm pretty determined to find one that works.

Victor I did see that thread as well. So it does look like it's possible. Just was hoping someone would know where to find one. I need the larger mechanical one. Cause I'll have to pick through some junk yards in hopes they might swap me. Thank you guys

Found a mechanical speedo unit at my local wrecking yard. Same bore size as the electrical unit. Will let you know how it works out after work.

Was a perfect fit!! Anyone wondering the same question it is possible to swap out of you can find the right bore size sending unit. I believe there's 2 sizes. Do not know measurements, big bore and small bore (easily distinguishable)
