need help with part #

fuel pump hanger, for a 1993 SR5 4x4 ext cab 3.0l pick up, i've even been asked about my wheel size while trying to locate one, it has 31 x 10.50R 15's , while the tag inside the door frame says it came with 225-75 R 15's, i dont know what tire size would have to do with the fuel pump except for different gear ratios, i was told by my local Toyota dealer parts guy after he ran my Vin. that the part # is 23206-35260, after running that # on e-bay some Toyota dealers selling it say it doesn't fit my vehicle, while other Toyota dealers say it will fit my fuel tank, the hanger is going to cost me more than I paid for the new fuel tank & fuel pump combined , ...Dazed & Confused

I take it your talking about your fuel pump bracket .

A fuel pump hanger is a piece of wire wrapped around a nail.

Go to the online Toyota sites enter your vin see what number you get

What is wrong with buying from your Local dealer if they fumble the number they should take it back I know mine will A trainee had quite a few issues with numbers

I like http://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/__...320635260.html Click on "what this fits" and you'll have Toyota's word for it.

Yeah, it's expensive. You can put the part number in Google and come up with a bunch of sellers, but none of them are cheap.

As Wyoming9 says, it's hard to beat handing your VIN to the Toyota counter-guy(gal), and have him(her) work his(her) magic. Having them handle the ordering is worth a few extra bucks (YOU decide how many it's worth to you).

You can certainly do that yourself.

But, Olathe calls out 23206-35280 for the 4-wheel Drive pickup. (Olathe will take your VIN and figure out what you're SUPPOSED to be looking for.)

If you care, Lakeland confirms it fits. http://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/__...320635280.html

But given all of the uncertainty, I think I would be tempted to spend the $40-50 at a Brick-and-Mortar operation that may assure you're getting the correct part. Online, you have to give the part number, and if it turns out you gave the wrong one it may be on you.

Do you think at sometime your fuel tank was changed so what should fit won`t for some reason??

This happens all the time to me.

I have had such bad luck trying to order parts online the few dollars in difference was well worth the piece of mind .

To just pick up the phone and say I need this and it shows up if it is wrong they take it back.

Hey scope103, I like that Lakeland link you posted. Have you ever ordered from them? How are they with shipping? The prices look decent considering what I'm used to paying up here in Canada.

Thanks

I have ordered from Lakeland, and they delivered what I ordered without any trouble (and I'm on the other side of the US). I think they used priority mail, which in the US is about $7.15 for the smallest package. But you need to check with them.

But I haven't tried talking to them on the phone. You could give it a try; not the same as face-face, but maybe it will give you some more reassurance you got the right part.
