Need Help- Hub Problem?

I have a Hilux 93 sfa with manuals hubs. When I try to use the 4wd it binds(clicking noise) up as I drive so much that I don't dare try anymore. When I try to shift out to 2wd it is stuck in 4wd. If I then lift the front of the ground one of the tyres spins backward briefly and then Im able to shift back to 2wd. Ive tried the reversing trick and it doesnt help. If I put the shifter in 4wd without the hubs locked it drives fine-no noises or binding. If I drive it with the shifter in 2wd but with the hubs locked I get a rapid clicking noise as I drive. Any ideas what this is? Am I right in assuming I can remove the bolts on the hub to inspect inside? Any ideas what I should be looking for?

It sounds like the bushing in the spindles are bone dry. There is a link on makeing a tool to lube the inside of the spindle.
