Need help finding 87 4x4 comparables for insurance
Hello, I need your help. I was in an accident in my 87 Toyota 4x4 and my insurance company can't find but 3 comparable vehicles in the United States to establish a value for my truck. I can't seem to find much better. Anyone have any ideas on where I might find comparable vehicles to show insurance. Right now they are valuing my truck at only $3,100 which seem low to me.
On a wet road I ended up parking my truck in the trunk of a Sonata, and no a 1987 Toyota 4x4 pickup will not fit completely in the trunk of a Hyundai Sonata... personal experience...
I'll take any help I can get,

Ouch, let us know what ends up happening. I believe I read some similar threads a few years ago and I saw some advice that said we should get an "as stated" policy where you basically state the value of your car (whatever you think it is) and you pay a premium based on that amount. I'm afraid if my truck ever gets into an accident, they are going to offer me next to nothing. I know that doesn't help you now. I just saw a couple of very nice 4Runners on ebay for upwards of $8000, so definitely check eBay, craigslist, and just flood your insurance company with information. Good luck.

The real problem is finding a base model like my truck. They have taken a low number of comparables as a reason to reduce the value of the vehicle instead of acknowledging the high demand and low availability, which would drive the price of the vehicle up, not down... Unfortunately the vehicles I have found are either mint, rock crawlers or extended cabs...

Hmm, after wading through a couple days of finds in Tempest, high for similar trucks is $4,000 - $4,200 and low end of $2,000 - $2,500. Looks like I need to go with the offer on the table as I understand it and take the money to repair it. I don't think I will be able to convince them the truck is worth more then the $3,100 they claim it is worth...
Thanks for all the help,

You're Welcome.
Sorry about the accident, it sucks that it's difficult to find a real basis for valuation of our beloved classics.
