Hey all! I just joined hoping someone here can help me. How do I disable the number 3 and 5 fuel injectors on a 1988 3VZE 4X4 pickup? From what I can tell from my Haynes, it's just simply disconnecting the wiring harness from those particular injectors. But I can't even SEE them. Please tell me I can do this without removing all the stuff on the top of the motor.

why would you want to do that? Maybe try pulling the connectors on them?

 

Cause I think I might have a blown head gasket and want to try some head gasket and block repair in the cooling system to see if it will help. And part of the instructions is to disable the fuel injectors for the cylinders that are affected.

 

makes sense, but please do not ruin your engine putting that junk in your cooling system, it causes more issues then it's worth. Fix it the right way.

 

Thank you, and I may do that one day. But for the moment, this is my only option. So is there a way to disable those two injectors without dismantling the top of the motor?

 

Not sure, but you do realize the stop leak is gonna eventually cause you to all but completely trash your motor? All of that stuff is a gimmick and much more worse for the engine then you think.

Water pump gone, radiator gone, heater core gone, all hoses might as well replace those as well and if your lucky the water passages in the head and./or block "MIGHT" be salvageable.

So what you think is a cheap "fix" now is gonna cost you a heck of alot more later.

I hear that...sometimes its what you gotta do...and it sucks that it has to be that way, but it happens sometimes. Im in the same boat as xxx, gonna have to pull the connectors on those injectors, Ive never even seen under the hood of a vehicle that has the 3vze so i wouldnt know what youre looking at, but in any case, thats what youre going to have to do. post some pics maybe??

 

yes; you have to pull the top of the intake off to get to them. I have one, proceed with caution.

 

Wow. You'd be better off renting a car until you can fix the engine. Putting that stuff in the engine will cost you $2000 to $3000 in the long run. Fixing a head gasket yourself can cost about $500 with the heads rebuilt and milled. Good luck.

compression and leakdown test should tell you if it's a bad headgasket.

 

Have you thought about buying some cheap pos car or motor cycle just to get around till you can fix the HG? You could always sell the thing once you get your truck back on the road. Might be cheaper in the long run if the HG stop leak stuff forces you to replace a bunch of other parts.

I bought a little Honda hatchback once, and was able to resell if for as much as I paid.
