I personally would not "rig" the wiring. It's one thing to do that on the trail to get home TEMPORARILY and another to do it permanently. JMHO.

I’m currently chasing this problem too. In my situation, it has thrown multiple different codes at different times when it stalls out ranging from Mass Air Flow sensor, to ignition problems and it starts sputtering and jerking, like you mentioned before, right before it turns off. Well I’ve changed the MAF sensor, the coolant temp sensor, distributor, and it just stalled again so the problem still persists. After checking the all the other stuff that the people above stated, everything checked out good. After further investigation, I found my passenger floor mat was soaked due to a universal AC unit I installed. It has been condensation and dripping on the floor which looks like it might have wicked up to the ECU. Just wanted to shed some light, as this will be my next fix. I will keep digging and update my finding. You’re not alone!

 

I changed my ECU and the problem was still there… that was a fail. I noticed that my engine was over fueling a bit and cased the truck to surge. I checked the pressure on my fuel rail and it was fine, but I didn’t stop there. I took out the fuel rail and inspected injectors and all the O rings were bad. Replaced the O rings and switched out the FPR while I was there and injectors. It ran like a charm after that! Hope this helps someone out there!
