Need help 92 4runner only starts with starting fluid
Hi,
Thanks in advance for reading this.
I have a 1992 3.0 v6 4runner that I bought from somebody with a blown head gasket. I replaced the timing belt and head gasket and now it wont start. It seems like the timing is ok but who knows.
I got the 2 white dots to match up while the #1 cyl. was at tdc and I lined up the crank to 10 degrees before top dead center per the instuctions on the hood. Initially, I had it lined up on zero degrees and thought that was my problem but sdoesn't look like it at this point.
******It starts on starting fluid but won't keep running.*****
I jumped the b+ & f i believe and I can hear the fuel pump running. I opened a nut on the fel rail and a bunch of fuel sprayed out so I believe there's pressure.
Any suggestions?? Is there a way to jump the fuel injectors to so they spray fuel?
I'm not a mechanic by any stretch but have worked on crappy cars a bunch to keep them running my whole life. haha.
Thanks again.

Get a fuel pressure gauge and see what the pressure is. Dont recall off the top o my head what it should be, but if its not enough then the injectors wont operate properly. Its hard to distinguish between 20psi and 60psi without a guage, and that 40psi between the two really matters to the injectors. Do you have any trouble codes?

THanks. I'll have to get a gauge. It's a little hard to get around because it was going to be my daily driver.
I don't have any codes. It blinked continuously I think indicating that there aren't any problems detected.
