Need help 22re problem

I have a 1994 toyota pickup with the 22re, i had the exhaust run on it in december and it has 2 1/4 pipe with no cat and a backwards glass pack yed of into two big tips, about a month later the truck started acting funny when u started it like it was missing but after a couple seconds on the gas it idells out fine. i haad to put a throttle positioning sensor on it a while back but it still acted up when u first start it. Then a couple weeks ago i put an ect sensor on it cause it would set the code for a second then it would go off. but today after driving around for a while i let the truck sit for bout an hour and when i went to start itu p it actd like it was missing like it does when u first start it but when i reved it up it didnt stop until a couple mins down the road. one of my friends said it smelled like it was running rich. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx Cody

Start with the basics... plugs, cap/rotor, wires.

its not good to run a motor with no cat, it can burn up valves over time. but like he said start with easy stuff first.

Gotta start somewhere, might as well be the easy and cheap stuff to get at, take note of the plugs as you pull them... if you do I guess. Once a plug gets gas fouled its shot, no matter how good you think you cleaned them !

with no cat it will tell the o2 sensor to run richer in witch makes it run hotter and that will burn up valves. i have known 2 people who took out cats and they both over time did burn valves in there motors.

Unless he has a California spec truck, I am pretty sure he only has one O2 sensor, which doesnt care if there is a cat or not, and running lean is what causes hotter temps and burnt valves.

when you put a new throttle position sensor on it did you adjust it properly with feeler gauges and an ohmmeter?

Running with no cat will make your exhaust smell different.

But like Blue 89 said. Start with plugs wires cap and rotor. Those are easy and cheep things to try first

I would love to hear more on this burning valves by removing cat and how a truck with only on o2 that is front of a cat is going to make it run rich when the cat is removed?
