Is this necessary??

Before you tell me to do a search,i did.I found my question went 50/50.I am doing what seems to be very common around here,HG and all the stuff with it(timing chain, oil pump, water etc.)I have read that I do need to remove the oil pan and I don't.Can someone please clarify. My truck is a two wheel drive so no diff or axle shafts up front.Do I need to tear down my suspension like my manual says or can I snake out the pan. Thanks ahead of time.

PS I love this site wish i found it along time ago!!!!!!!!!

I just did a HG replacement on my 3VZE and I didn't mess with the oil pump or oil pan.

you do not need to remove the oil pan if all you are doing is a head gasket.

If you are doing rod/main bearings, then you may have to remove a suspension crossmember. However, you do not have to remove the whole system.

Yep, should be able to. But, why are you removing the oil pan?! Unless you are replacing the pan gasket, there is no need to remove the oil pan when doing a HG or a Timing chain.

Yes. as long as you reaseal that area, it will be fine. I have dane many chain changes, and never remove the pan or the head. The timing cover will slip right out. Since you are taking off the head, it will make it all that much easier.
