I posted another thread about a leak but figured this title would be catchy. I originally thought my leak was the upside down u shaped coolant hose that is under the plenum next to the fuel dampner. However when pulling my plenum I actually found the leak. The hose that comes from the rear of the engine at the coolant intake and towards the front of the engine but pit stops at the throttle intake was leaking pretty badly on the top of the engine. I have in the picture that hose highlighted in green. However what is the electrical highlighted in red? I noticed in the last few weeks my dash lights and power flickered from time to time almost like my alternator was faulty but I added a new alternator about a yr ago so I knew it most likely wasn't that. I believe this coupler was the issue where the coolant was leaking onto. The cable goes down into the top of the engine between cylinders 3 and 5 directly under the fuel rail (driver side). It appears to be ok but if this is some type of sensor I would prefer to replace it since my plenum is off and getting to everything in that area is easy right now.

 

I think mine has the same loose wire most likely for an option like cruise control. It is easier for a manufacture to make one wire harness rather than make several for specific options.

 

ahh doing more research its the dreaded knock sensor.... so the question is... it has had water puddled around it.. but I'm not throwing any error codes... should I pull it or not? I called Riebes and its $201.99. Since I haven't had really any issues im leaning towards leaving it, so I dont need to yank the intake and the fuel rails... otherwise I believe I would have a lot more labor to do... Let me know any thoughts...

yes its a jumper that goes down to the knock sensor. leave it alone.

 

Have you pulled stored codes from the ECU? Should be the FIRST THING you do when a problem develops.

 

yep, knock sensor, if it isnt broke, dont fix it.
