I don't think being minus a gas cap will help me pass smog.

 

If I recall... b/c it was a hundred year ago.. no it did not. How I noticed it was b/c my parkway (I'm taking it back) is at an angle...

1: It's a return line so I don't imagine it sees a lot of gas...

and 2: It has to fill the frame to the lowest hole in the thing, before it can run out.

 

Hmm....so should I just try switching the two hoses I could have crossed and see what happens?

Truck, I'd do another test to make sure b/f I pulled the tank again...

I have to think back b/c it was a long time ago... But I think there is a simple way to tell...

Isn't there a hose on the bottom of the canister? Can you pull that see if gas runs out? Or if they're both at the top I wonder if you can't blow on one and see if gas comes out the other...

My prob was on a 2WD... So some things might be different.

Charcoal can, should not have ANY fuel in it right? And the vent IIRC is not submerged, it's at the top o de tank.... Pull that line off the top of the canister that's closest to the photographer... blow in it. If you hear bubbles, or the tank gargling... it means the vent that should be above the gas level is under it... then the lines are crossed.

I think... They're right at the top, two of them...

One is a vent, the other the return line IIRC...

I don't do fuel systems everyday so bear with me... Plus I'm doing my carb stuff everyday here lately.

The charcoal filters the gas vapors off the tank and does something with it...

The return line takes fuel the engine couldnt burn, but the pump pumped back to the tank...

Troubleshooting IF you got those lines crossed, vapors are going where fluid should go and fluid where vapors should go...

i doubt it... You can rinse the frame off if it'll make you feel better though...

The same exact thing happens to me with my V6. And I'm not sure if gas mileage or smog would be effected by this. The last two or three times the PO had to smog it, (I haven't had to yet,) it has failed and needed slight work to pass. And I also get very poor gas mileage, (even though I know that that is part of the characteristics of the 3.0 anyways). Sorry to post my own problem in your thread.
