Mysterious engine squeal

This has been hapenening off and on after our trip up to harrison west. Where I beat on the truck pretty good.

When I go to start it up I will get a horrible squealing sound, but if I rev it a tiny bit it will go away.

Somtimes it will do it, somtimes it will not.

Last night I was driving away from my parking spot and it did it while driving (first time for that) but went away 2 seconds later.

All the belts are only a few months old.

Could it be my fan clutch ( its going) making the noise?

ideas?

You said the belts are new... how is the belt tension? Were they re-install to the proper tension?

The only one we had trouble with was the steering belt because it was not an OEM one.

The squeal sounds JUST like a belt, and it happend after our wheeling trip, I had went though multiple big puddles and whatnot. Thought I might have gotten dirt under the belts or somthing.

If your belt has any goo on it that can make it squeal as well.

Try retightening the belts. they can stretch in the first while of having them on there. then find some fairly thick lube and put it on the belts. Its a 3vze noise and is on almost everyone ive heard. mine does it to.

The clutch is only a few months old, complete kit from marlin crawler.

I will tighten the belts, im thinking that is probibly the cause.

I hate the sound of squealing belts, it makes my truck look like a pos!

yup probably need to be tightened... if thats not it take the belts off and spin the pulleys listening for unusual sounds... then try 1 belt at a time and turn the car on to find out which is making the noise

sounds like the throw out bearing to me...Happened in my wrangler. Would squel LOUD as a piggy, than go away... Than it would do it while dirving. If it IS the throw out bearing, make sure you change it...or else it will sieze and smoke. Pretty much welding istelf in. Dont ask how I know HAHA that was a 1100 mistake

Throw out bearing is new. noise is comming from the front of the engine, I will tighten the belts. I will spray some lube on each belt, if it squeals I wll know which one it is.

Was giong to say the exactly as you said, but waited to see if anyone will help you there. But you got it so use belt dressing instead of lube.

you can use lube, but like stated above belt dressing would be the proper way to do it, but I think its a pulley bearing gone bad. it happened to me before. or it could be a combination of both.

do you think it might be your power steering pump?
I replaced mine a while ago just because it was making noises, there was always a constant whirrr to it, but if it was even remotely cold outside in the morning it would sound 10x louder, I just eventually got tired of not being able to hear the people at the tacobell drive through I think the previous owner probably put PS fluid into it instead of ATF

Anyways, before I pulled the pump off, I was soaking the nut and the shaft [insert funny comment here] with wd-40 so I could get the pulley off [insert second funny comment here] and low and behold, after the wd-40 soaked in a little bit, the squealing went away (for a few days)

just a thought..... takes a few seconds to spray it at night and check in the morning, and you wont have to remove anything, if this doesn't work, remove the pulleys one at a time like stated above
