My very first truck. (Pics)

Hey l'm new to this forum. l thought l'd join to get good info on these trucks since l got one.

This is my 1983 SR5 4x4 with the 22R and 5 speed. l bought it from the original owner with 240,000 miles for $500. (Yeah l was lucky) But l drive it to school everyday and it's never failed once on me. lt came with an air horn which is loud and awesome. Ha ha. The work l've done on it so far is cleaning, (No carpet, or other useless plastic) black stock rims and hood.

Ha ha thanks. l called the guy 15 minutes after he posted it up on Craigslist. The next day when l went to pick it up he said that he had 45+ emails from other guys wanting it. They were willing to pay more but he was honest to sell it to me because l was first.

Yeah l'm glad that l got a long bed. l'm gonna cut the edge off and make it a short bed with the wheel base on the edge so that l'm not scrapping when l go up and down hills.

Sigh...
Where I live (MA) there were these guys from Providence/RI that would buy almost every Toyota Pickup for sale for under $2500. They would then never sign the title and sell it to the new owner (or so I read from the CL complaint ads I saw after this started happening.) I used to follow the trucks and ones that "needed work" were listed as "great condition". By the time I was done looking, I found the same thing for two other groups of people locally reselling these trucks.

They got more than a few that I wanted to look at, but when I found mine it was actually mis-listed as "Toyota Truck". I was the 3rd person that looked at it the day I bought it. I never thought I'd get it with my offer, and the owner didn't understand why I even wanted to buy it, and I don't think she actually even wanted to sell it.

the op got a great deal i would have snatched that truck up in a sec, there's a 85 for sale locally that's been rolled for 1100 still thinking about it though as i could use A LOT of parts off that truck. will probably pass though but the point is that i cant seem to find any solid axle toyotas for less money than that, most in the 2000 range
