Quote: I think that I saw a post where a guy used a 3vzfe vafm. He never posts much but he did a lot of work on his engine. Headers, cams, larger vafm, .20 over bored cylinders and some portin and polishin. His name on here is green93toy. Anybody seen that?

He doesnt run the new AFM, he is still using the stocker...

I just did this swap on my 86 4Runner 22RE and i used an AFM from a mid 80`s cresida with a 5 MGE engine, and the and the part numbers on the AFM are 22250 43110 and 197100 3020, it was also plug and play but i adjusted the AFM two notches richer because i figured the added air flow would lean out the air/fuel ratio a little, i also used 3'' aluminum tubing from the AFM to the throttle body and a silicone elbow to conect it to the throttle body. I also used an air filter on the end of the AFM instead of a stock air box, and it sounds good when you hit the gas. I havn`t had it on the road yet but its comming soon.

btw - the increased cabin temp that I mentioned early on was due to the clog heater - somehow it's heating the cabin even though it was not turned on (no idea how). But when I flush the entire cooling system - out comes the stuff - cabin heat now normal.

hth

ps - still very satisfied with the MOD - specially the VAFM swap.

btw,
this mod is plug n play - no need to adjust anything on the VAFM
adjustting the teeth of the meter (as some has suggested) is not necessary I played with it but ended up putting back to the original setting.

like what I said - just below 80$ of mods to be in par with a 96 taco is well worthit imo.

well did some research and found that the part number for a 1990 camry vafm is 22250-62020 same as lexus, even the airbox is 62220
some ending in 74101,74120

pretty hard to find the correct part, there a some issues with the supra vafm or some camrys that plugs ok but work with other specs ,maybe someone can clarify this.
so dont jump on it until all issues clear,i know someone will come with some good info,im not telling the author of this post have wrong part numbers cuase the evidence is there but that vafm with that part number is really hard to find maybe another will work too.

i'm looking more for better gas mileage instead of more power..

my goal is to have this 4runner getting 18-20mpg with 35" tires on the highway
