my truck lives!

My truck.had been sitting in my friends field for five years and due to deployments with the army and crazy weather and a myriad of other reasons i never had the chance to.drain the gas or properly store it. But after 3 weeks of hard work, busted knuckles and extreme cold. Today i drove it. Runs like a champ! Lots of knowledge taken from.y'all to make this happen! Thanks!

It totally was. Got a little discouraged when i had to replace my fuel pump bracket all ny lines and pump. Wasn't expecting the price tags on those ! But all the junkyards in Utah hooked me up on those!

Sweet!!!! That gives me hope. My '90 has been sitting for 5 years too. Im in the process getting it running again.

Freed the engine, dropped the tank, fixed the brakes, and new oil and filter. Hopefully ill hear it run in the next few days.

Any trip, tricks, or insight you would like to pass along???

It really is! I just underestimated the amount of damage bad gas could do! It was a total resurrection! Thought she was dead for sure!

Looks like the fuel had turned to varnish years ago. The tank and sender had a healthy coat of rust. There is a raditatior shop in town that boils/coats tanks for like $90. Ill probably go that route (assuming the tank inst too far gone)

I did get it running today with the help of my bothers fuel cell, and pump!!!

I just resurrected my new-to-me '85 4Runner that had been sitting a looooooong time... besides the bad gas requiring a drain and clean, new filter, and injector cleaning, I also replaced a bad head and had to get the exhaust manifold machined to correct the exhaust leaks. I passed emissions by the skin of my teeth on Christmas Eve . I feel your excitement, believe me, it's nice to bring an old reliable truck back from near-death.

Lots of work left to do, but she's running and driving. Where in Utah are you? Do you drive trails? Always looking for more wheeling and wrenching buddies!
