My O/D light won't flash a code?

Ok, first. Its a 87runner auto. A340H 22re 225k miles. Ive had it for about 3 years. Its been having shifting problems. Can't make up its mind where it wants to stay 2nd or 3rd its all over the place. so after A LOT of searching i thingk its the Tranns Solenoid. Only when I try to check the codes, the O/D light won't blink. The check engine light blinks a steady blingk but I can't get the O/D light to do anything. Ive used the papper clip trick connected the TE1 to the E1 and nothing. I have also made sure the O/d is on. any advise??? anyone??? thanx

steady blink of the check engine light, when the jumper is installed means "no codes" at least according to my FSM

if its not flashing any codes it doesen't have any. on older trucks (pre odbII) you're going to have a hard time getting the computer to throw codes for minor issues

Oh. But what i read if there is no codes it should blink a steady blink????
Well thanx anyway. I just wanted to make sure before I order the Solenoid kit. The kit only comes with 3 solenoids and i was trying to make sure that i replace the right ones. thanx again.

On my 91 the O/D light blinks when I short TE1 and E1.

Does the light work? Does it come on when you switch O/D off when driving?

The te1 and e1 will not make the transmission control unit flash a code, they are for the ECM for the motor/ignition/injection. You must ground the square plug behind the air filter. Then you switch the ignition to on, with overdrive on and the overdrive light will flash a code.

OK! Found it! Flashing 61 speed sensor and 64 lockup solenoid. Now the question is Speed sensor???? do I need to replace or just clean or.... look for loose or severd wire???
