when done, it looked something like this:

I chose 6" for the overall length because I'm anticipating another 2" longer shackles for the rear.
I'd love to give you a pic, but I'm 3000 miles from my rig.
but as you can see, the slots at each end allow for some fudge factor / personal preference tuning.
one end gets bolted to the axle and the other to the LPSV bracket.

some performance pads need to be hot or warm for good braking.

I have had the best of luck with organic pads and the EBC's.
Thanks for the info. I'll look into that too.
My friend has PF pads on his 4Runner and his wife's car. He absolutely loves them. Though, like I mentioned earlier, my "real" mechanic tried them on his Mustang and hated them.
This is going to kill me if this whole time, the problem has been as simple as the PF pads.
Looks like I have a lot of HW to do this weekend.

Picture is a little dark but, I think I can see what you did.

Thanks! That was a nice setup. That's thinking ahead too.

and don't get confused- the two holes in the middle are there because I used perforated steel bar- so it already had holes in it, and I used those two holes to bolt together 3 pieces cut at six inch lengths so the slotted cuts at the ends were uniform between the stacked pieces. Now that it's installed, there is nothing other than 2 empty holes in the middle.
and let me add that the 36" bar I bought to make that was less than 3 bucks.

I'll keep that in mind.
