Oh and I guess someone stole the front emblem off it, just one more thing to look for at the wrecking yard.
I've always wondered why people cover up their plates in pictures. Anybody got an answer?

i guess its harder in Canada to find a 2wd 5 spd, down here they are everywhere in the junkyards. finding an auto or 4x4 is hard here.

Haha thanks. I was walking through my house looking for something to cover the license plate, and the clipboard was just laying around; so I grabbed it, and it worked out alright.

It's more of a safety issue, because you never know who will be able to see the pictures (the entire internet), and how they can use even minimal information --> better to be safe then sorry.

Axle code should be on the driver's side door frame, no need to crawl under anything.

Hah, must be! All I can find are 4wd 5spds, only other 2wd truck I've come across was a 4spd. Only 2wd trannies I've come across are 4spd. Have yet to see an auto 2wd, but I have seen one or two for 4wd.

E: Just saw this link in a different thread, it might help you more accurately locate a transmission. http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_cata...ota_truck.html Go ahead and ignore the somewhat inaccurate info in my previous post on the subject.

Thank you all so much for the help, I actually went to the wrecking yard today (half price day at pick your part), and the only truck I could find with a 22R series engine, still had its transmission, but the people that got to it before me absolutely destroyed it -- I would have had to buy a whole other transmission just to fix it. In the meantime I'll be patient, one will show up sooner of later.

Another thing I was thinking about today at the wrecking yard was putting the some Subaru Brat rear seats in the bed of my truck, but the space in between my cab and wheel well is too small to fit them. I'll keep looking for that as well.

Axle code will be on the firewall on a aluminum piece of metal. Your axle code is most likely a G662 which means you have the 8" rear end and not the 7.5" that most 2wd do. The 8" means you can use 4wd third members to bolt right in and it is stronger as well.
