My '90 SR5

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm about 1 week into my first 4x4 purchase...so far I've been very happy...

1990 SR5 3.0v6 183K mi
5-speed, 4x4 with ADD
3 previous owners, I'm the 4th and I plan on keeping it for a while as it's my new daily and as far as I know the truck is as stock as they come, just a magnaflow exhaust and potentially an aftermarket cat

So far I'm learning a lot, mostly with the help from this forum

It needs a few things, but it had over 3K in work done (with recipts) including timing belt, head gaskets, various sensors, brakes all in the past two years. Oh, and it's pretty much rust free, just surface from a shell rubbing on the bed and various scratches and so forth

A few things I noticed right away; those damn steering stops!, new clutch for sure, steering is a bit sloppy perhaps the idler or steering damper.

So ok guys, need your opinion, as I've seen some #s and some great deals, so I hope I didn't over pay but here in SoCal its hard to find these unmolested, so they are becoming pretty rare and I had been looking for a year off and on so when I found it I just pulled the trigger at $4,300. Either way - it's with me to stay.

Looks great man! That's a nice yota! As for price, I pd. $5k for my '95 4Runner this past summer. Book values are about the same whether it's in good original condition or modded to the max, so I always offer what I think's fair. Mine came with a huge envelope full of maintenance records so I felt really good about my "find". These are my favorite body styles (trucks and runners) and they aren't making them anymore! haha Mine was in prestine condition and I knew that I'll have it for a long time so it was worth it to me. It seems like some of the major work has already been done on yours. I've been hooked on this site since I bought mine and have found anything and everything that I've needed on here. The guys and gals are really respectful and helpful (unlike alot of other sites).
I'm a previous Jeep owner (past 12 years) and one thing that I've had to get used to is the much smaller aftermarket, but I've been able to find everything that I need.

Great! Thanks guys...I thought my price was good - but now looking back, it's probably a bit on the high side. But it's hard to tell in just the 20min you are driving it - plus I didn't really educate myself on these trucks too much before hand, I just knew I wanted one. [Actually, I really wanted a '88 SR5, I just like the boxy body style and the cool graphics - maybe I will trade in the future....] Anyway, here in SoCal they are hard to come by, at least the way I was searching, so I'm happy with my purchase and yes, RE-RE, it does make me smile every morning I get in it.

Hopefully, I will keep this thread going, I have some plans for some basic care and mainenance stuff....including those damn steering stops!!! - so I'll try to keep all the history here.

Oh, and here is my other interest....my '88 BMW M3 (professional picture taken before I bought it)

I also ride a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R 600, and a 1990 Ducati 750 sport
