Alright so the gasket is on but i forgot the sealant where the head and timing cover meet :/ eek I hope that doesn't come back to bite me in the ass...

How much sealant do you all use on your other gaskets? Intake, exhaust, etc?

Another thing, my EGRV unity thingy mabobber is DIRTTYYY! I was just scraping gunk outta there but couldnt make it past the bends...

should I replace this? Is this just another piece of the low power, low gas mileage, poor idle puzzle?

Yeah I'm pretty sure that dirty bic pen isn't critical for engine ops'

Use a soft copper coat hanger to chip away at the EGR pipes. You can also boil them in water on the BBQ grill(use an old pan or garage sale found one). Soak them in kerosene. Old power snake(plumpers tool).

You could spend a lot of time on cleaning these, might be better served to scrap em and buy a new one. Not sure on the prices. That is just the pipe from the EGR to the intake, should be relatively cheap.

I don't know if your state has emmissions or not but I just eliminated my EGR and PAIR system on my 88' 22RE and couldn't be happier. It definetly runs a little smoother and a little bit crisper throttle response. Just something to think about.

Nah Wyoming doesn't have emissions to pass... But driving in Colorado might be risky because they do make sure you're not riding dirty. Something I'll consider though when I get it all together.

So I'm putting the intake manifold back on and I noticed that the PO only used 7 bolts of varying lengths and some without washers... This is probably no bueno. Are all the intake bolts the same length? Some of the exhaust bolts needs replacing so I'm going to the parts store soon to get them... It should be running any day now!

So here is a picture of the current 7 intake bolts I have. I also have a self tapping one not included in the pic... Why are there different lengths? Should it be like this? I have some replacement hardware just in case..
Thanks
