mpg current average on your 3L V6 (3VZE)

Hope this subject has not been too beat to death... just curious about the disparity we see.

If 16-18 is normal for self-described non-leadfoot driving, are most of the other results really out-of-tune cases?

I'm assuming a normal mix of driving, not a lot of lead foot cases etc.

Just curious, as I've a one month old '94 4Runner running at about 14mpg. A lot of posts say live with it, its normal. Others show much higher results with simple changes such as 02 sensor. Since I don't have the repair history, and the truck seems to perform just fine, just wondering what "normal" really is.

95 4runner
3.0 L auto
with a Yakima load warrior and fairing

i average about 14 mpg mix hwy and city driving. this is with O/D off.

I recently turned O/D on and the 4runner is riding better. On the freeways going 70mph my rpm is about 2900 instead of 3900 to 4200 when the o/d was off.

edit: i'm running premium gas.

I was getting about 17.5-ish and I lead-footed it 85% of the time. Of course, I had completely rebuilt the engine (and I mean COMPLETELY) about 2.5 years ago.

3.0L - manual

Depending on how much wheelin I do, I get between 16 and 17. Most of my driving is city. But,I have a bikini top and I havn't had the roof on my truck for over 8 months - I'm sure the weight of the top makes som kind of difference.

It depends, if I stay strictly in the city and just go back and forth from job to job, I get around 16.5 or so, if I use a complete gastank full on the freeway I get around 20mpg or so. This is driving very easy not much leadfooting, taking my time up to speed, and slowing down etc...

So what that in mind I'm going to check the 18mpg mark, if I did a mixture of both I'm sure my mileage would be around 18mpg.

Gosh guys, stop rubbing it in... I get about 12-13 with my Auto. I run 31's W 4.88 gears. I let my tranny shift at about 3k rpms every gear. Is that about right?

I'm averaging 18 in the city. It's probably right around 20 on the highway.

Can I change my vote?

I had my head up my arse and thought that "<12" was greater than 12 and i thought that was the highest, hence the one vote for <12.

Non Leadfooting it? 18+ 20+ on highway.
