Since there's a thread out like this for the 3.0, I figured we needed a 22r-e
thread. With a '94 4runner 22-re 5speed stock 15x7s I average 19 city-24 highway.

 

In the summer I get about 20-22 with my 285's on, and about 20 with 35's. Thats running empty, and a rural style driving (50-60mph, with stops, and a few hills)

When loaded to go camping and pushing it up and down the hills it drops to 14ish.

My old 4runner, a 95, the one drive I did on it stock got me 21. With 32's it was 18, 33's 16, then when I added a TRD Stage II cam it dropped to 13-15.

 

i saw around 26mpg... mine anit stock soo that helps

 

Do the trucks and the runners get different mileage? I'm hoping to get mid 20's when I finally get mine on the road, it's a 4 banger.

 

i think the 4runners might get less as there heaver

 

Do you live in Kansas where there are no hills, or just dirve at 55??? I only got 22 at best when I was running 31's.

 

Over the last 15,570.6 miles, I have gotten 20.079 average miles per gallon.

I just got back from a 400 mile trip here in Montana, lots of hills, a mountain pass,
And I drove at 75 mph most way(except uphill of course) and still maintained 24mpg. Pretty good I think.

WOW i guess their is something wrong. i think my best is 18 in my 1st gen 4runner, and for some reason i get worse when it is highway driving about 15 or 16. I can usually get 17 -18 if i do a lot of city driving with a light foot. I don't know what could be causing such bad mileage. Everything is bone stock 30in tires. New o2 sensor, TPS, plugs, wires, air filter, cleaned TB, and used seafoam. I am at a loss but i didn't realize some were really getting like 25mpg, i thought i was just a few mpg off.

my '91 4x4 with 30x9.5 tires and stock gears gets about 20mpg freeway/city in the winter. in the summer when i bought it, was getting closer to 23mpg all around.

my '79, let's not go there. it used to get 20-22mpg when i bought it, but since i built a performance engine with a gas sucking weber carb, it's probably closer to 15 now.

 

Well I do live in Kansas, and it's far from not having any hills. Alot of people think Kansas is flat, which just isn't the case. Most people that think that Kansas is flat probably drove down I-70 between Hays and the Colorado border and that's all they remember. That stretch of road seems flat, but it's a steady incline into Colorado.

I'm going to attempt a valve adjustment this weekend along with new NGKs, plug wires, rotor and cap. If everything goes well I'll snap some picks of Kansas hills and post them.


Now about mileage. I run a rural paper route with constant stop and go driving over 150 mile stretch. I've been getting 17.6 miles/gallon but it would be much better if the terrain wasn't so hilly

 

If I were to guess, I'd say 20mpg.
My little truck got 17mpg and that thing was really bad on gas.

 

1984 22rec 2wd 27-31 town, 32-36 highway. Got this mileage for MANY years. Right now it's averaging 27 (WTF?!?!).

I've checked everything and replaced a ton of crap. Next project is to replace the original cat. If this doesn't fix it, I must have a crack (or cracks) in the head (even though I have 160-163 PSI in all cyls )

 

I average almost 19 w/ mixed driving and mixed loads in many different temperatures. I almost always use 93 octane gas as well.

 

Average 60/40 city/freeway at around 18-22 mpg, 33x12.50's on 15x10's and stock gearing

 

You guys that are running bigger tires, are you just adjusting your calculations. I remember when I would drive from my house to San Diego it was almost exactly 100 miles. When I changed to 265 75 15's it was only 93 miles. So I figure every 100 miles I drive I should add 7 miles.
