hey guys.
well it seems the swap is not gonna happen now. but im planning a 100% BadA$$ rebuild on my 22RE. goes like this

-block will be bored 40 over
-block and head will be resurfaced and decked
-head will get a valve job while in the shop
-head will be ported and polished
-new camshaft ( thinking about a outlaw )
-possibly bigger valves
-all new pistons ( not sure which though, need help on this part)
-possibly new rods ( thinking crowler, or LC )
-and a new header, no cat, and a flowmaster 50 series.
-and of course a complete rebuild kit from LC

looking forward to this one. all the help is much appreciated, and all comments and ideas are welcome.

i personally think that the 22R and RE motors are crap. have had too many bad experiences with them. so many "engine builders" have no F'ing clue what they are doing so they dont last for crap.
i would go 2 or 3RZ like mentioned before.
V8s are nice and powerful but are also as heavy as a ships anchor.

well the problem is, i have to keep my 22RE. so i have to make due with what i have. its been a very reliable motor, its just old and has 200,000 miles on it. So i think that when i get this work done, it will be just as good, if not better than when it was new. My dad still owns the truck, so that rules out the possibility of a swap. i have most of my homework done, i just need help picking my pistons, and cam.

ok guys so i got on engnbldr.com and did the build-a-kit thing. well i think i got everything i will need for the rebuild-

-piston set
-ring set
-gasket set
-timing chain set
-full bearing kit
-camshaft
-head bolts

also what are these few options, and do i need them??

-sleve n seal
-soft plugs

so do i have everything? also which cam should i go with? that site has two to choose from. and does the gasket set come with everyone of them i will need ( head, valve cover, exhaust, intake, oil, etc. ) ????

thanks for all the help guys
