Motor Help with 1994 4runner

High, I have a 1994 4runner 4wd auto, the v6 is done. I am wanting to find out what motors exactly will fit? To be more specific, i would like to find something along the lines of a salvage or just rebuilt v6, possibly a supercharded v6 and want the least amount of hassle and most reliability. The reason i want something else is due to many rumors and personal problems with poor headgaskets being blown ....

Popular swaps:

toyota 3.4L v6 years 97+ can be supercharged
Lexus 4.0 v8 - gaining popularity, apparantly bolts directly to the 3.0 auto
Chevy 350 requires new bellhousing .....
ford 302 requires new bellhousing....

Now im not really getting into the nitty gritty of the engine swaps. If you go with a carb'd v8 that will be the easiest to swap in. The toyota engines with EFI are ( and most will agree) the best engines to put in, but require more work/time to make them work.

I was thinking of swapping my 3.0 out of my 95 4runner , and replacing it with the 350. saw it on EXTREME 4x4 . i have'nt had any problems with it yet though KNOCK ON WOOD . HELL IF A LEX 4.0 BOLTS RIGHT UP TO IT , I MAY GO THAT WAY

You need to fix your font color. No one can see that.

"least amount of hassle and most reliability" I am sure I will catch hell for this but I would turn that 3.0 over to a good machine shop. Have them buy the parts from enginebuilder for best value and do the long block assembly. Get ARP studs for the heads, stainless exhaust valves installed, injectors cleaned and tested, and change the cross over exhaust (get rid of it) by running the passenger pipe down and cross under to a larger single exhaust. Get a new radiator and replace clutch fan with a flex fan. Break in the engine with 10-30 dyno oil and then go synthetic on first change. Change transmission oil and add a can of TransX to clean it internally. Be very careful to get the hot level exactly right. Those A340 transmissions are very sensitive to oil levels. Those 3.0's are bastards to work on and a shop rebuild will make the job much easier and raise the probability of a long life. Heat kills these engines. Save it with a flex fan and changes suggested to the exhaust. What I have suggested will be least amount of hassle and most reliability. The 3.0 is OK with some changes.

My $0.02

However, turn off your caps lock.
