I don't think it's pointless, just rather difficult. The biggest restrictions I can think of are the wheezy head flow and cast pistons. Why would it cost a lot to hit just 200hp with a turbo?

Its pointless...an engine swap would be much more reliable and net you much more power. The heads are a weak point, as is most things on this engine. The 22re was not designed to make HP, it was designed to last forever. I'm keeping my 22rte in there not because of power, but because there's not too many out there. You can run around 10 pounds of boost on these engines, after that fuel modifications are necessary. Have you ever priced out a MS system? Not too cheap...then add injectors, fuel pump, and all of the lines you will need just for the fuel system. It's possible, but much more cost effective for a engine swap...

Do it man, then do a write up to tell us how great it is. But in the spirit of scientific method dyno it before and after. Not the seat of the pant dyno neither. Shoot I may be interested.

With a TIG welder, die grinder, and cut off wheel you can spruse up the intake. Or build one from scratch seen pics of both the scrach on had hood hitment issues.

With the TIG welder use the 20r head TIG in the intake to receive the EFI. port and polish it then have it machined, oversize valves off course. I like the 261 or 260 cam so that's what I'd rock out. DT header with hi flow cat and 2.25" out the back. I like a glass pack to.

Lowerend, well a stroker of course, torq is king! KB pistons, I'd keep compression low for regular pump gas, just incase prices go back through the roof.

With these things will I might start thinking fuel ignition upgrades. Probably just supra injectors or 22rte though computer should be fine to manage it.

Yep thats what I'd do. Or go a head and buy it prebuilt from LCE or DOA. Speaking of which call DOA up there in Mooresville or Tim @ engnbldr these guys been building and racing these engines for a minute. And probably forgotten more'n I've ever learned on them.

Let us know what works out for you.
