Maybe the clutch is going?

I've got a 94 xcab4x4 22re. Driving today stop and go and suddenly, shifter started grinding, had to push HARD on the clutch to change gears. Got it home with a new clutch slave cylinder in hand. Installed that and still same problem. so i added a neoprene shim between the slave cylinder rod and the clutch lever. that helped a little and so i lengthened the threaded master cylinder rod to the clutch peddle as far as i could. now i can shift without grinding, but with the clutch to the floor. I'm not confident that it is totally fixed, and my adjustments are maxxed out
Anyone want to speculate? I replaced the clutch master about a year ago after ruining a couple pair of shoes from the brake fluid (unglued the soles from a pair of running shoes), so i'm thinking throw out bearing or some other internal transmission problem.
Any ideas would be much appreciated
Dash

(sorry for the double post i'm new here and i think the original got in an inactive room)

I would change the clutch master cylinder. On the v6 trucks the clutch bracket has been known to fatigue and break. Might want to check yours.

Definitely check the clutch bracket before you spend any more $$$ on replacing anything else.

I was having the same problem with my rig... spent 3 hours bleeding, and checking the bracket(which does move some, but not broken)...checking seat/bushing... turns out my aftermarket floormats were too thick, and not allowing me to get the pedal down far enough... floor mat went in the garbage...trucks shifts like brand new now.

Thanks guys. Turns out the peddle bracket was tweeked a little, don't know how. Sure is made of flimsy metal, like a flattened out tin can. I think i'll weld a couple pieces of angle iron to it to keep it firm.
thats a funny one 420! i don't think i'd want to admit to that one!
Thanks all

well...it only helped cuz the truck wasnt hot... today I drove 150 mi, when I left, it was shifting like new, after about an hour, started getting worse and worse, to the point where I had to turn around and come home, forcing it into gear therafter.... I'm thinking throwout bearing, as it shifts fine when cold.

If you're bracket is OK, then you must have a clutch slave or master going out. What you are describing would not be the throwout bearing...
