maybe another headgasket :(

Just had a shop do one exactly 17k ago. but heres the skinny on what happened. Drivein down the road heat started blowin cold, pulled over and at an idle engine missing pretty bad. so i shut it down call a tow truck and waited... lol. under the hood the overflow bottle was compleatly full and as it sat it actualy pulled the water back through into the radiator. once totally cooled off i popped the cap off, and my radiator was still all the way full. So im kinda stumped. Help please oh yeah and also my engine wont turn over now.

And this is a V6, right?

I wonder if those up-side-down gaskets are still getting around?

Did the shop use brand new head bolts and top quality parts?

22R-E is the way to go. I wouldn't buy one with the SOCH 3.0 V6 POS motor. The DOCH 3.4 V6 in later model trucks and 4 Runners is a great motor though, my buddy has a T100 with that motor and 250k miles on it. Runs great, doesn't use any oil, has been rock solid since he bought that truck with 100k on it.

Call your dealer and give them the VIN#. Tell them you want the service history and to know if the HG's have been done.

It prolly already has, but hey... If not they'll do it for free.

You have several choices ranging from rebuilding your engine to getting a donor that recommend getting from a 88-89 running truck.

I beat my Toyota's like rented mules and my 14mm head bolt V6 NEVER gave me a moments trouble except for a leaking injector o-ring.

...and I flogged it daily with red-line shifts, and thumbing the OD off then shifting from 3 to 2 and power sliding it EVERYWHERE.

Your next option is since you have a V6, upgrade it to the 3.4 since you already have the bellhousing and motor mounts for it...

As much as I love a 22R, in a 4-door 4Runner it's pretty much common since they're heavier the RE struggles way more.

But you could just gear it to the moon and drive slower?

Either way it sucks and I'm sorry you're getting this as your 1st Toyota experience.

ok well i've read a few threads and my truck does happen to be a 1995 which does NOT appear to be covered, at least from what i read so far. I think the only thing that may be in my favor is my truck was actually manufactured in 12\94. So im really hopein toyotas gunna have to pony up for this fix. cuz like i said in one of my earlier posts i already paid for it once, right after i bought the damn thing :\ what do you guys think of the 12\94 manufacture date?

Only one way to find out: Call Toyota and give them the VIN.

I've owned a couple 3.0 4Runners, a 92 4Runner with the 3.0 was my first Toyota.

I have had much better luck with the 22RE than any 3.0 I've ever had.

a good way to describe the 3.0 is a (hit and miss) motor sometimes you can find a a T4R with over 300k with a good track sheet as far as repairs go but others will start to blow headgaskets at 150k
