This may be a stupid ring and pinion question

Well I ordered a set of front and rear gears, and master install kit from 4wheel parts. Well they sent me the stuff for a 4cyl. instead of v6. so i called beacuse none of the bearings would fit in the rearend as you would guess. they sent me a new master install kit for a v6 and told me that the ring and pinion itself was the same weather it was a 4 or 6 cyl. I do not think this is correct but i wanted to know for a fact from others. After i get some feed back on this i will let you in on another problem with the situation.

Well sorry to hear you bought those Genuine (crap) gears. You should have ask first. If you can still return them I would. The 4 cyl gears will work in the V6 diff with some shimming but they aren't the same as the beefier true V6 gears.

I went about 40,000 miles with 4cyl Genuine (crap) gears before I had to pay to have them replaced. Oh, they gave me a new set of gears to replace the trashed ones but I didn't want to pay for installation every 40,000 miles so I bought US Gears and sold the new Genuine set for about $25.

Try here for some quality gears and (unlike me) do it right the first time: http://www.usgear.com/
