massive sqeaking from driverside wheel
so for some time now i've had a sqeaking sounds coming from the front wheel area. i'm thinking it's a bushing. tomorrow when i get home i'll pull the wheel and inspect. what do you guys suspect? also the speaking sound has gotten worse over time.

The last part makes me think steering links. are you a candidate for the steering linkage recall?
A chirp squeak? fingernail chalk board squeak?
What gen truck?

more or less a squeaking sound, if you could imagine a bouncing ball. like compression and release. i think it's the lower ball joint. i pulled the whole spindle, top ball joint had plenty of grease i know this because i tried to use a pickle fork to remove it. then i said F this crap, the pickle fork is just destroying the boot of the ball joint and will not pop. I didn't care because i'm going to replace both ball joints any how. So I ran to the hardware store and grabbed the small and large pitman arm remover. I will say this thing works like a champ. Once the spindle was sitting on the work bench i pulled the boot off the lower ball joint. I found that it was dry as a bone and no grease. This could be one of the issues. Next i'm going to pull the wheel bearings and replace them, and put everything back on the truck. I'm eligible for the steering rod replacement. I'll get that done once everything is replaced. This should rule out everything. if it still does this, then it has to be lower/upper control arm bushings.
damn cone washers are a bitch to remove, i have to run to the autoparts store and pick up a set brass drifts or maybe a brass hammer, and 54mm / 2 1/8 socket for the axle nut.
I must say after taking everything off, the second time i will do this for the passanger side of the truck should be a snap.

so i changed out the ball joints and everything is fine. no more squeaking while driving. how ever i do get a loud almost grind squeaking sound while the wheel is point left or right while going up a curb or offroading in the dirt. going to put some grease on the stop caps and see if that's the new issue (fix)
