Check in the classifieds. Someone was selling a new cbi tire carrier for $220 delivered in the U.S. I was looking at buying it but I think the tire may sit up higher than I would like it to with the marlin bumper. I will probably have one custom made for me.

Or you could always throw it on your surco.

doesn't putting your spare on your roof make that much more top heavy?? or is that little amount of weight not even matter on the top

For those of you that have these already, did you go with the HREW or DOM tubing?

HREW. It's about $130 cheaper. Heavy enough unless you're really banging it.

You can still put the tire under the back end. Mine was fine there for Steel Bender, Hell's Revenge & Moab Rim. (see my pictures earlier in the thread)

32x11.50x15" tires will run about 45-50# w/o the wheel. The wheel is another 15-20#. So that's 60-70 lbs total. Now put that on top of your roof rack, which is about 5 ft from the center of rotation of the suspension. If you have a 30 degree static tip or a 0.5G turn, that's about 150-175 ft-lbs of additional torque trying to roll you over. If you have it under the rear, it is at or below the center of rotation, so it either has no effect or a stabilizing effect on the vehicle.

FWIW...

Edit: I think wheels are a little heavier than my assumptions above, but you get the idea.

Check again (now and again on Monday). I had that show up as well at one point, but the bumper was delivered on time as originally scheduled. You could very well still get it on Tuesday.

Somebody asked for a picture of the mounting a LONG time ago. I took a phone pic but I guess it got stuck in Verizon's systems or something. Anyway, quite randomly the pic showed up today! So here it is. Sorry about the quality. POS RAZR.

The bracket goes inside the frame rail as shown in the picture above by GV27. The bolt farthest inside the frame rail goes through the front/side bow, then the frame and into that welded nut. The trick for me was to:
  1. first take the two plates off (3 bolts) and put them in the frame rails,
  2. raise the front bows and get a bolt started into the captured nut,
  3. then start the rear bolt/washer/nut,
  4. then swing the back of the bumper up to align the three bolt holes on each side with the brackets and start one on each side,
  5. start the rest of the bolts and
  6. then tighten it all down.

#2 was the hardest part for me. The ends of the bows were just slightly narrower than the frame rails. Fortunately, there's a nice little ramp to slide it over to get it there so I greased it up, then got one of the bows into position and had my wife hold it there while I forced the other side to slide up into position while pulling to the side with it to flex it a bit. Bashed my arm when it finally (abruptly) slid into place. A bit of a PITA but results in a nice tight fit.

I have to jump on the wagon too! I've had mine on for a couple of weeks now, and love it. I'm STILL waiting on a front from Dave'z Offroad (4mo now), but it should be sorted out soon, and I'm REALLY itching to get some sliders.

Here's how she looks as of Monday.

of course they can! make custom brakets.

jay, i would go with a 2inch body lift, with 3 you will be able to see between the body of the truck and the frame..it really is ugly
